I really appreciate the remastering jobs these people do on the PL&F shows, but this time, Bertha dropped the ball in a specific area: the drums, particularly the snare. This isn't some of their finest work. The echo/delay/reverb is so over-the-top that its distracting. Check out Slipknot for a good example of this. It's throughout the remastering, but when the drums are left uncluttered, you can really hone in on the effect. It's really there on the sharper/upper frequencies, such as the snare and cymbals, making the cymbal crashes too bright and overwhelmingly brash. Not all the cymbal work suffers from this though. Maybe this was an unavoidable consequence in lieu of the acoustics or other original soundboard results, but it's still there. It's still an irritation. Everything else has been lifted and cleared in the mix and smoothed out nicely.
Despite this complaint, I do prefer this recording over the original soundboard master.
Very nice show with a good song selection and strong jams. The primary reason for the 4 stars is the drum sound on this remaster. Otherwise...lots of smiles to be had.
